What I am doing today......

.....aside from the usual, like getting the laundry done and ready for the week, or a quick trip to the grocery store for groceries I might need for the week, or doing a little housework that needed to be done from the past week.......

I decided to tackle trying to get a little headway on my sewing room. It is out of control. Actually, more like I am out of control. I sat in that room this morning and looked around and seriously had a thought that if I started today sewing with all of the fabric I have, I'd not outlive using it all up.

How is this possible, that I have not been quilting that long, and to have a room full like I do is rather shameful. This is just one small corner.....(that I am willing to show) And...in defense of this mess, these are two sets of fabrics I am using at the moment to make my jubilee quilts. The problem I have is that  I don't buy small amounts of fabrics, I buy YARDAGE. I guess I do that so I have enough and not run out......but in all actuality, I won't want to use this fabric again in another quilt. Right? .......Right?? Not yardages of it anyway. Gads!

I did manage to pack a box of stuff I don't need and know I won't use. I have another box that is the same type of stuff and I just need to remove it from the room. I always have bright ideas and pinterest is a huge influence on those ideas, but somehow they don't come to life and I get tired of looking at the materials for projects I have lost interest in.

For at least the NEXT YEAR.....

I am not going to buy another piece of fabric. I will use what I have and make due.

I am not entering any more giveaways for fabric via blogs....no matter how tempting it is.

I am not going to take advantage of any more GREAT deals via Facebook or the internet. In fact, I unliked several of those sights this morning from facebook.

I am not going to the LQS and shop their bargain shelves.

I am going to weed out some of this expensive fabric and precuts I have been holding onto and list them in my etsy shop soon.I will be happy when someone wants to purchase it for their own projects.

Once I get this room more manageable and I feel like I can breath in that room....I am next going to cull out a lot, or more like most all of the vintage dishes I have stored everywhere. I need to lighten my load and I have decided I don't need this stuff anymore like I used to feel I did. I always had big plans on using all of this stuff but the likelihood of that happening is slim to none and I am tired of seeing it all over the house.

Of course, I should have decided to do this when the weather was a lot better and had a garage sale. Now the weather is not the best which means I still need to find a place to store it all until I can have a sale. But rest assured....it is going. And soon.

Christmas Fabrics - Dachshund Fabric

Nothing better than finding some new fabric that has dachshunds in the print. Even better when you find more than one bolt of fabric with different prints. I was over the moon when I found this fabric a couple of weeks ago. I thought that maybe this would make someones day to get their hands on some of this! Take a peek.....

I found this one online at Hancock Fabrics. I also saw a small bolt left in-store last week as well.

This one has cute dachshunds and kitty cats. Found at Hancock online.

How cute is Santa with a dachshund.....this one was found online at Hancock Fabrics and I also saw it in-store locally last week.

Love this.....Santa's Sleigh being pulled by three little dachshunds....you know in my mind that is Sophie, Dora and Bailey pulling that sleigh......Found online at Hancock Fabrics and in-store last week.

All the one's came last week that I ordered online. Love them!!! But then.......over the weekend look what I found......

Cute dachshunds in Santa hats!! Oh, I was super excited. I found this at Jo-Ann's Fabrics here locally. I checked their website and they have it listed as NEW. Here is the link.

I felt like I hit the jackpot with all of this cute fabric! It is not easy finding fabric with dachshunds, and when I do find it online, then it is all sold out! So I thought I'd pass this on to some of you dachshund or fabric enthusiast out there. I suggest not waiting too long, as I would imagine it being sold out rather quickly as it all is ON SALE!!! You can thank me for this later!!!!

.....Oh, and Hancock nor Jo-Ann's have any idea who I am, nor do they care. Which is sad really, because I do spend a lot of money in both of these stores. Anyway, I am not passing this on to you for them to benefit from it...I am passing it on so YOU will benefit from it! This would be cute for lots of projects......What do you think you'd make with this holiday pup fabric????

Begging Quilt Blocks - Block By Block

Block by block, my quilt top is coming together! Over the weekend, I got a bright idea of taking a photo of each block and uploading it to a flicker account. That little idea took several hours to complete and boy, was it a job.

The idea was, if you cared to look at the blocks individually, and find some of the fabrics you donated for this project, there would be a place to see the closeups of the blocks. I have decided that there is no way a photo of a completed quilt would ever show each tiny block in detail!!

I will say this, there is a LOT OF PINNING of these blocks together before I sew them. Don't know what I was thinking as I really am not too fond of the pinning part at all. My husband asked me why I don't just sew them and not worry about pinning....said as far as he was concerned, it would all be the same anyway.....**** crickets chirping*****...........too bad I did not think of that......Thanks dear, but no.......

I do a lot of thinking while I do all that pinning of the blocks, and I have decided I am going to try and see if I can get one of my blogging buddies who does long arm quilting to quilt this for me. It is totally a blogging family quilt, so I think it is appropriate to have a blogging friend quilt it. Hopefully, that will work out!

The following is a link to the Begging Quilt Blocks flicker account. Take a moment if you wish to scroll through all of the blocks. I will say this, I should have pressed them before I took the photos of the blocks, but thought about that when I was almost done.....so excuse the not perfectly pressed blocks!! Feel free to leave comments on the blocks you find your fabrics in.....that would be so fun to see!!!

* In case you are not familiar with Flicker, click on the block on the left, it will make it larger, then at the top right of that block is an arrow to see each one individually. There is also a slideshow option at the top of the page, click that and the slideshow will start. Enjoy! And have a great day!!
