Welcome everyone to Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you have a love for vintage things, well....you have come to the right place. We have a really good time each and every week!!!
If you are new to this party, please take the time to read and follow the instructions for participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday, click HERE. I try and keep things fairly simple, so please make sure you follow the instructions. Please only ONE link per week. Lastly, if you link in, LINK back to my blog, so everyone can see all of the vintage goodies on display that day. If you don't link back here, they won't know who to visit......thanks so much.
Since I was scrambling for something to show this week, I happened to glance around my sewing room and found a couple of treasures......Sorry I am late with the link...Life is rather full these days!!
This is a box of Dritz Tailors' Chalk. Look at the price....you'd never see a price tag like that retail today!!
Vintage Pinking Sheers. I love the box that houses these sheers....
But I adore the bakelite handles on the actual sheers more!! These are really a lovely pair and I never use them.....even though I guess I really should!! They are just pretty to look at!!
Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!!

Hi Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage sewing stuff. I found my mothers sewing scissors this past week but your post just reminded me I never found her pinking shears. :( Yours are so wonderful, I adore bakelite.
Happy VTT!

Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteMy mom still has her pinking shears in the box just like that, and you know she wouldn't let me borrow them. Guess she thought I wouldn't give them back.<;)
Hey is S Santa going to happen this year?
Cathy's Cupboard Calamity
I haven't had a pair of pinking shears for many years. I would love to find a vintage pair like yours. I love the look of the handles too. I even love the boxes just as much. xxoo
ReplyDeleteVintage sewing notions are one of my favorite things! I love the handle on the shears.
ReplyDeleteYour vintage pinking shears are wonderful. I don't think I've ever seen bakelite handles on pinking shears. So special!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, Love the vintage sewing notions. The shears are great. Mine are vintage, I bought them new, but they do not have the neat bakelite handles. I have used the tailor's chalk for many years. Great price, LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Ginger :)
I love vintage sewing notions and have boxes and drawers of them
ReplyDeletealways love the old sisscors and rick rack and BUTTONS
Now I am looking for an old wolf dress form with a wire skirt
Those pinking shears are lovely! My Mom was a big sewer and so I always enjoy looking at sewing notions. Fun!

Hi Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI wonder what kind of profit was made on that chalk if they could sell it for 10 cents! Ha! I looked all over Walmart the other day for pinking shears...and found none! I should try a vintage shop, I suppose! Hope you have a lovely day. I'm linking up for the first time in months!

I am not into sewing, so never used any of these. I do like the handle on the pinking shears.
ReplyDeleteI just love vintage sewing items. They are so much fun! I have a few. Don't sew as much as I used to, but treasure the ones I have! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteRuth
Some great finds there! It is funny to see how much those things were once selling for. I guess back then that was a lot of money and now it's like nothing =D
ReplyDeleteI find lots of vintage sewing notions. It's so much fun to look through all the goodies. Thanks for the party!
ReplyDeleteWhat precious vintage pinking shears. Luck you! Thanks for hosting Suzanne and happy VTT!!

I was too late this week to make into the Vintage Thursday, but I love your Scissors! Vintage sewing notions are some of my favorites. Take Care
ReplyDeleteVintage sewing notions are really fun! I can't believe how they made the packaging so nice! You don't see that anymore. Hope you are great!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Susie
Fabulous pinking shears! Those handles really are lovely. I remember my tailor grandfather had these enormous pinking shears-yours look easier to handle. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun party to get into and read all the vintagey goodness! I'm marking this spot for some good reading.
