This Post is to Test Your Knowledge...***ANSWER****

OK....Here is the answer to today's challenge question. Do you ever feel like there never is enough time in the day?

Did you know you can take a bag of rice, lay it on the agitator of your washing machine, throw in a load of towels using hot water...and viola....once the washer turns off, perfectly steamed rice...ready for the table.

J-O-K-I-N-G here folks! Can you tell I am feeling a bit silly today?? Might as well laugh at my silly mistakes...this is really what happened......

Normally, you see my sweet Sophie & Dora's picture on my phone, now, you can not even see the screen...because I washed it in the machine with a load of clothes....I hope the rice does the trick....should be dried out if left in a bag of rice unopened on the counter (not the washing machine) for a couple of days....I am crossing my fingers here, as my contract is not up until December....what a mess if I have to get a new phone.

This is a test.............

Please leave your guess in the comment section. I will check back later Friday and give you the answer....I just want to see how many smart folks out there in blog land can guess what this was about.

Now, file this tad bit of information in your head just in case you find your phone floating in the washer one day like I did. I was impressed with all the smart answers.....you guys do know your stuff. Have a great weekend.

See this bag of rice and a regular ole' ziploc bag? Well.....can you guess why I was in need of these two items Thursday evening?? The two of these were quickly transformed to look like this.....

I'll give you a hint......a regular ole' washing machine was involved as well......

Stumped yet?!?!?!? Don't worry too much....I will show you in another photo what it was all about after we play a little guessing game.

  1. Looking forward to the answer! Seems too "fat" to put in the freezer or microwave to use as ice/hot pack, and the washing machine clue completely baffles me!

  2. I was thinking of the rice hot packs but then you mentioned washer. Maybe your washer needed cleaned and you decided to use the rice as an abrasive - you had too much rice and so stored the rest in a ziploc or maybe you even decided to reuse the rice after you fetched it out of the bottom of the tub- actually it would probably be more like after unclogging the remains from the hoses!

    You got me curious!

  3. Something tells me a cellphone got caught in the washer and needed to be dried out? :)

  4. Rice stays fresher in a Ziploc? You're freezing the bags of rice and keeping something cold with them in an old, wringer washing machine? Someone's getting married? You need to wash something that needs to have rice inside of it to keep it fluffy? Your cooking for a crowd and the washer is the best way to make large amounts of rice? You're laughing hysterically because this was all a ploy to hear really crazy ideas?
Oh my gosh! My brain hurts. I need to go to bed. Please tell us soon.

  5. egad Suzanne...did you steam it in the washer?

  6. I'm going to have to agree with Laura's idea. I couldn't decide if it would be a washed cell phone or a washed mp3 player though!

  7. I would think that it'd be banging around in the washer. ????

  8. Suzanne, Some ones cell phone,r ipod, remote control or other similar device was washed in a pocket and the rice will remove all the moisture if you place the item inside the bag of rice and seal it.

This is my best guess, because I have done this and it works.

  9. Would it have been used to balance out your washing machine?..if not I think the cell phone answer sounds the most logical.

  10. I was going to say something about needing to balance out your washing machine like Caroline did. But what if the bag opened accidently and you had rice everywhere. That would be one huge mess. So I am inclined instead to agree with Laura and others who say that something got wet, like a cell phone, and you are drying it out!

  11. think I got it. Somebody in the house, who shall remain nameless, accidentally washed an iPhone or cell phone in the washer. In order to further dry it out you put in a bag of rice. This helps to draw the rest of the moisture out!! If I am right, I hope it worked for the accidently washed phone. but hey it is really clean now!!! :)

  13. Perhaps you want a new front-loading steam washer and "accidently" dropping a bag of rice in your old model clunker will thoroughly destroy the motor making it justifiable to get new washer. When oh when is the government going to come up with cash for clunker washers?

  14. Your testing the ziploc seal? lol

I like cell phone, iPod idea. Can't wait to find out.

  24. OK, so I give up - was that the question and the answer all in one? Or was the rice used for something other than the cell phone?? That's an awesome thing to know as we have 3 young adults over here, which means 5 cell phones in our house!! GREAT to know! You're too funny ~

  25. i agree, what a mess if the bag opened. Daughter dear dropped her phone in a bathtub with a slow drain, not good! I took the phone completely apart and placed it in a tupperware container full of rice for a few days to try to have the rice absorb the moisture...(like having the few grains of dry rice in the salt shaker to keep it from crystalizing..) no luck. Dead phone! So my guess is your phone....good luck!

  26. I have friends who have put their wet cell phones in the freezer to fix them. I don't quite understand how it works, but they say it did. You might want to try that if the rice doesn't do the trick.

  27. Sorry I didn't see this soon enough to participate in the quiz. Wish I had had this knowledge when I dropped my phone into the pedicure footbath.

  28. I was thinking are you kidding me...lol how does it keep from falling into the washer. I will be back. thanks for stopping by today.

  29. Have you checked to see if you can get a new phone now anyway? I think they will just start you on a new contract. Maybe???? And if not, my husband bought a 'go' phone at Wal-Mart and just took the SIM card out of the old one and put it in the new one and it worked great.

  30. You had the bag setting aside the washing machine and someone thought it was supposed to be washed? This would happen in my house because I have very "helpful" sons and husband........:(

Sometimes someone says something really small, and it's like it fits into this empty space in your heart!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts here, they really mean a lot to me!
