Santa Dora, Elf Sophie And The Naughty List

Every one big and small is getting ready for Santa to come for a visit very shortly. Most everyone around here is on their best behavior.....

Santa dog Dora is most ready....you see....she has declared herself the official Santa Helper....she has claimed the Santa hat as her own....I am not kidding....and is making a list of all wrong behaviors going on around here.

I began to wonder what was up when Elf Sophie got in on the act....She tried to convince me she had nothing to do with any shenanigans going on around here. Now you tell me....look at that face....how could any wrong doings come from a pup with a face like that?

Then...there is Bailey....trying her best to keep Dora quiet....promising to be good....begging for a second chance....hummm......something did not seem quiet right around here the other afternoon.......Dora told her, "she was not buying any empty promises"...she is one tough cookie, that Dora.

Believe me....this type of activity soared to the head of the naughty list, and quick.....

So much for my clean, freshly vacuumed floors....and if you look closely, the post of the bed must have tasted pretty tasty too.......

Just look at what happens when I leave for a few hours...sticks made their way in through the dogie door.....misplaced toys, and what a mess I found. Bailey is trying to remind me that it is very cold outside and this could very well be snow....Really??? Snow?????......well, sorry Bailey, that is a stretch at best!

Bailey tried to tell me she had a little help in the mess....and it was all in good fun....she begged Dora to tell me how much fun it was....however......

Dora is sticking with her story...and waiting to tell Santa exactly what has been going on around here. Only good pups get treats and toys in their stocking....and she is not going to miss out on any treats and new toys...no way......

Bailey on the other hand....has a few things to tell Santa herself...she is most convinced Santa does not care for tattletales.....and she has a little something she wants to share with Jolly Ole' St. Nick. At this rate....Santa may not stop here at all this year......

  4. I wondered when you were going to do this. I knew you would not let the holidays go by without showcasing your "darlings".

  8. Don't we just love our dogs. I have a sweet little Cavalier King Charles names Sophie - she is light of my life.

Looks like yours can be a handful at times - it cracked me up!

  9. You know me, dachshunds are my favorite and these pics are adorable! I love that Bailey took over the Santa hat (I think that's Bailey). I can't imagine having three of these darlings, only one keeps us on our toes! They are so beautiful and what fun! Except the messy part! I left a ball of thread out the other day, and boy did our Nico have fun ruining that! My fault of course, so how can you be mad at that! Merry Christmas!

  11. Oh Suzanne that is funnnnny. I've been there!

I got married in October 1983 and we lived in an apartment and I wanted a dog in the worst way. My husband's b'day was in November and I decided to surprise him with a dog. A dachshund. He was surprised alright. One night we went out for dinner with friends and invited them back to the apt afterward. Upon opening the door we found our little darling sitting on the sofa amongst the filling from our shredded sofa. It's funny now but it wasn't then.

  13. How cute! How well I remember when mine were young. But, when they get as old as my dogs, if it weren't for misbehavior, there'd be nothing but sleep. Lane

  18. Suzanne, your post is so adorable. I LOVE your dogs. Your story is the cutest thing. Dora, has the look of keeping a secret lest her doggy friends get mad at her. LOL. I Love the 'snow'. What is it about paper that dogs love?

We are in doggy love right now too. Cheri' is so funny and full of mischief too.

    Hugs, Jeanne

  23. Oh my soul, that was SO cute! And it's reminding me of Riley as a pup... with holes chewed in the walls and toilet paper strewn about the house.

    Thank heaven they're cute :)

  30. This is the cutest post ever. Now,you know those sweet puppies had nothing to do with that mess. You must have created the mess yourself and forgotten about your bad behaviour. :). Sorry Suzanne,I just couldn't resist..the puppies are just too sweet and cute to have a small mis step in the behaviour department.

  31. I've seen your Dachshund sign at the top of the page but just didn't have time to look. Today I'm snooping. They are adorable. Dora in the first picture looked just like my Prissy and Schatzee who looked a lot alike. And OMG is Bailey a long haired dapple? The first dapple I ever saw was at a parade and only about 8 weeks old. It was the first time I ever wanted to steal and RUN!!!!! It was sooooooooooooooooooo cute.
We don't have any now as they have passed on of old age and are with us up on the hill. I want another one so bad but we just couldn't get rid of the fleas up here in the woods and it wasn't fair to them or my hubby who has bad reactions to fleas. We tried everything and I read that the fleas are in the fir trees and after seeing an infested birds nest I believe it. Maybe someday if we move . . .

  32. Suzanne, great story. We are also dog lovers, we have our DOXIE Halo, a male..long story with his name..We call him buddy, mister, Hay, Halo Balo, Wado Bado, he answers to almost anything...we also have a Dalmatian named Gracie, she thinks she is the boss, and a lab mix India, she always looks like she is smiling..We also have worked in the past with Greyhound rescue, although not in the past few years as we have stupidly moved around quite a bit..but settled now so we shall see.
Anyway, wanted to stop by and say hi and come visit my blog sometime!

  33. LOL! My cats shred toilet paper rolls too.
I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy seeing your blog about your dogs. I especially like your Dora, because she is just like the dog we had when I was a teenager. Tupi. She was such a sweetie pie.

Sometimes someone says something really small, and it's like it fits into this empty space in your heart!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts here, they really mean a lot to me!
