I spent the afternoon in the garden.....working and playing with my camera. The weather here has been perfect for gardening and the fair amount of rain we have had this spring has been great for our garden.
I picked green beans off the vines today, and picked summer squash and acorn squash. Also found a zucchini and a cucumber wanting to be picked and turned into something wonderful to put on the table.
We have cantaloupe and tomatoes and lots more cucumbers and bell peppers but they are just tempting me on the vines....not ready to pick just yet.
The weather forecast is for possible triple digits over the weekend....that makes me sad, because when the temperatures rise around here in the summer, the gardens tend to be over stressed and that is the end of the producing season. Hopefully, I can harvest a little more goodies before that happens.
Hope you enjoyed a peek into my small backyard garden...and really....you don't need a lot of space to grow your own fresh vegetables....all it takes is a sunny spot, good soil and lots of tender loving care. And let me say, there is nothing like the taste of fresh vegetables served to your family, and the pride in knowing they came right our of your own little garden.
~Good Stuff.

There is nothing better than fresh picked corn, and sliced tomatoes - right off the vine. Cucumbers with sour cream and vinegar. Yum! I want to go plant a garden right now!
ReplyDeleteMy garden isn't quite ready to start picking yet, but when it starts getting in the triple digits we try to water some of it.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for my cucumbers and tomatoes, string beans and yellow squash to get ready.
I am really good at gathering fresh produce. Let me know if you need help and have any extra to spare. I will be glad to pick my own.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it's too late to plant beans! I'm anxious for our first harvest which will be lettuce in a week or two. I'll get by with what we've planted this year I guess...next year we're expanding!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Suzanne. Nothing better than fresh from the garden. I would love to have a small area but we just don't have any place in our yard that gets enough sunshine. Enjoy you produce.
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful. I don't know if we are allowed to plant a garden where we live. It is a mobile home park. Our yard is not fenced in, so I think it is not allowed because of that. Not sure though. I am just trying to keep it pretty. Or rather get it to be pretty. I am on the way there.
ReplyDeleteYour veggie mosaic is so pretty, and your veggies look so healthy. I'd love to just have some tomato vines, but I just got too frustrated with the squirrels getting them before I did. laurie
ReplyDeleteI don't like the hot weather either but glad your garden is doing well.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day.
The Raggedy Girl
Oh, it all looks so luscious! I wish I could grow some veggies, but I've given up. Between the bunnies, squirrels, deer and raccoons, I surrender to Mother Nature!
ReplyDeleteHey there...glad you enhoying the "fruits" of your labor.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to tell ya that I got my first Family Circle magazine yesterday! Have had time to look at it, however.
that is:
ReplyDeletehave NOT had time to look at it, yet...ooops.
Delicious!!! I wish I could grow a garden!
ReplyDeleteHeck, its too cold here to even ask the flowers to bloom much! I have one poppy that got brave! The tomato plants are about 8 inches tall, and it's 60 degrees out today.
ReplyDeleteOh Suzanne...you need to give Mr. Bo some lessons...his little garden is....well, pathetic to say the least. He does try though. We both love our veggies but the garden isn't producing as beautifully as yours... ;-) Bo
