Most folks that know me personally have heard me say I don't prefer shopping at Walmart at all. I do however for the sake of convenience stop in about 3 times a month for something quick I might need but usually it is only for one or two things. I don't do my regular grocery shopping there at all ~ ever.
AND THIS IS WHY
Last month not once but THREE times when I ran into the store for bell peppers and onions when I mysteriously ran out at home, found this at the checkout. If you do the grocery shopping, you know the cost of GREEN bell peppers, and you know the cost of the pretty ORANGE, RED, and YELLOW ones too. The green ones are considerably less always.
Is it a new way to get a few more cents out of the unsuspecting consumer?? I don't know, but you can bet I won't forget them on my next grocery shopping outing at my local grocery store.
When all your pennies count....it pays to pay attention especially during the hurry and rushed season upon us....and shame on Walmart I say! I'd have acknowledged it being a mistake once...but three times in one month is a little eye raising for me! Just thought you'd want to know.
** I did call it to the managers attention the very first time it happened and he said he would take care of it....after the third time in the same month....I guess he forgot.

That's the great thing about living here. We can and should speak with our pocketbooks. If businesses don't behave the way we think they should most of us have the luxury of being able to shop else where. I believe this is much more effective than "occupying."
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with them, as I never shop there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for head's up, Suzanne! I'd have never thought to check for that. I know I'm very vigilant wherever I shop to make sure what's rung up is actually what was scanned. It's tough, but I've got to watch out for my interests! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate that and I am always trying to watch the prices listed and the prices that ring up! Wal Mart is just too big for their own good!
ReplyDeleteWalmart doesn't put those stickers on there, the companies they buy them from do. I found other fruits and veggies around town at other stores with the wrong stickers as well. But those times it was to my advantage.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do shop at Wal-Mart I actually try to find a cashier that is busy. I like to be able to place almost all of my items up on the counter before they start scanning them to watch as it is scanned. I know they find this annoying, but as you said, every penny counts. I always find something that rings up differently than was marked as well.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't do my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart either. In fact, I've been buying lots of stuff at Family Dollar or Dollar General or just buying at the grocery store. I do like scanning my owns stuff and I especially like bagging my own stuff cause I'm kinda (ok, extremely) OCD about grocery bagging.
ReplyDeletethanks for the tip..we are all so busy we would not notice that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that! I'll be looking a little closer from now on.
ReplyDeleteNot at all, ever, a WalMart shopper, but I wonder if they'd match a Farmer's Market price? :)
ReplyDeleteWere there green pepper tags on the red, orange and yellows? I would think the orange trim on the label might mean something to whomever is doing the sticker-sticking, no?
Thanks Suzanne for the heads up! I buy a lot of toiletries and cleaning products in Walmart, not usually the produce. They do have some food, but it is not a super Walmart where they sell all the groceries. I will be sure to take notice of my stickers and prices.

I tend to watch as things ring up as mistakes are common. There is one other store here that I watch like a hawk; it's a craft store and it might have a masculine name. Love the store; hate how their items are often mis-rung.
ReplyDeleteWE JUST HAVE TO BE OUR OWN DETECTIVE AND WATCH WRONG PRICING EVERYWHERE THESE DAYS
ReplyDeletesorry for all caps didn't mean to scream
I so hear you! My mom had a very similar problem with some cereal she was buying. She kept talking to the manager and the had the same problem. They just don't seem to care.
