I seem to try and watch this one every year and never grow tired of it! Now, I look back at all my old favorites and wonder at the simplicity in the making of these shows, Yet, as a child growing up before animated graphics came along, they were pure magical......and truth be told, they still are.
Now if you are a fan of The Grinch, then Max is just about the cutest character on the show...next to Cindy Lou Who..... Just look at this adorable Max the dog made from reclaimed and recycled materials. He has become a treasure to me and is loved and cherished.
Being a dog lover, I always felt sorry for the poor little guy.....still do every time I watch that show. He reminds me of my dachshunds....cute, spunky, and too small to pull Santa's sleigh, but so faithful to try.
Lots of time during my teenage years were spent at my best friends house and her younger brother was always special to me. He was always so much fun and funny and we loved spending time with him and his friends. I always thought of him like a brother, and he was always as cute as a bug.
Not to mention, that my first born is named after him. When I was looking for a name to name my son, "Jeff" came to mind and that is how I named "my Jeff"....after the brother of one of my best friends. Well, as you can guess, my friend Jeff has grown into a mighty talented man! And I was gifted this Max the dog this summer. I treasure it, not only because it s so cute, but for who made it. Every time I look at him, I remember that cute little blond young man and how he grew into such a talented man today. I adore this dog and could not wait to display it this holiday season.
It takes a lot of creative talent to create things from nothing. Some people have that knack, others don't. Jeff certainly has so much of that very talent. I am so very proud of him and his accomplishments. These days, it takes special hearts to be able to see good in tossed away and ordinary things and turn them into treasures. Jeff is just that type of heart. Some of his work is displayed at an Art Gallery in Granbury Texas. Check his work out HERE......there are some great pieces all made from reclaimed, tossed and forgotten treasures! This is the very kind of art that makes my heart sing! I love it!
What do you think of Max the dog?? Adorable is the word that comes to my mind. I added a couple of vintage ornaments to the antlers which are old railroad spikes, and borrowed one of Sophie's Christmas collars to put on his neck. I think he really is just about the cutest thing I have added this year to my decorations! He will be loved and cherished for many years to come! Thanks Jeffro for my precious pup! I love it and still love you too!!!
Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday Everyone!!! I am excited to see all the vintage Christmas that is sure to be highlighted this next month!! What about you???
I remember the Grinch so well. We watched it with our son and loved it and so did he. Now we are looking forward to introducing the Grinch to our three year old grandson. I love your Max and he deserves a place of honor in your home. I see he found it under the tree.........
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting VTT.

I just love watching old favorite Christmas movies and yes, the Grinch too. Jeff is certainly talented and your Max is very cute! Isn't it wonderful to have treasured childhood friends? It's the very best vintage treasure to have!! Thanks for hosting Suzanne, and I love the Christmas card list too.

I love you Max from Jeff! What loving hands made this for you! We have our own Max. He is a 10 Jack Russell that refuses to wear antlers for me :(
ReplyDeleteYour Max is adorable and what a treasure made by a dear friend...now that is the best!
ReplyDeleteNow this fellow is definitely one I have not seen. Since I do not watch Christmas shows, I am glad you explained his name. Next time I go to Granbury, will look up this young man's place.
ReplyDelete"You're a mean one ..." is running through my head as I type. Love the Grinch! Your Max is sweet, funny and awesome. Jeff has created some impressive work--including Max.
ReplyDeleteOMG..he's adorable! I'm very envious. I have a little stuffed Grinch and Max that I put in the rear window of my car each Christmas. They travel around with me and hopefully make the people behind me smile. I am a BIG fan of the Grinch. In fact, I've got one of his quotes on my blog's sidebar for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love the old cartoons as well although mine go back a few more years. So fun!!
ReplyDeleteLove Vintage Thingy Thursday.

So funny, Suzanne! Your Max is great and what a wonderful gift. I'll have to find my VHS tape and make sure I watch the Grinch this month. Such a classic! Thanks for hosting!!

I had no idea your son was such a talented artist Suzanne. I may have misread what you wrote but he is the artist, right? Love the creatures he created out of junk. Very exciting pieces. Love vintage Christmas too. It is such a magical time of year!!
ReplyDeleteMax is absolutely great! And you're right about the graphics -- the original Grinch cartoon holds up so much better than any of the newer holiday specials.
ReplyDelete@Deb....my son is a talent all his own, but his namesake is the one that is the artist!!! My friend's brother whom my son is named after is the one who made Max. I guess that was a little confusing!!
ReplyDeleteThe Grinch is my all time favorite and Max has definatly always been my favorite character from the Movie. Cindy Lu would be my next favorite. I absolutely ADORE this, I wish I could have one!!
ReplyDeleteChristmas Dog is too cute. Thanks for sharing, Ginger
ReplyDeleteMax is cute - I do so love housebroken dogs and Dr. Seuss. I went to bed singing "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." (I hope you are happy.) I love 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' but your Grinch comes in a close second (the rhyming always get to me). For me the Christmas season begins with Advent and Christmas music. Have a great week. Thanks for hosting VTT.
ReplyDeleteMax is such a treasure and Jeff is sooo talented too...loved your story. I always loved to watch the Christmas animations and cartoons every year aas a child and like you I still do :) I loved The Grinch, Rudolph and Frosty too...just watched Rudolph the other night. I like the way the oldie shows looked...I just don't like the digital type children's shows of today...guess it's just the vintage heart in me :) Thanks for sharing your special Christmas addition and your memories. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday season!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
Queenie
P.S. Thanks for hosting...I am glad I can join in on the fun this week too!
Well of course, Tears are flowing as I read this, what a sweet tribute to my baby Brother.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing Suzanne and I think Max is adorable.

The Grinch was my son's favorite book to read at Christmas. I love your dog! That is too cute!
ReplyDeleteRuth
I just LOVE your Max! It's too, too sweet!!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne,
ReplyDeleteWill you please remove my link from the party? Another reader/participant was very unhappy with what I shared and I do apologize for adding my link without remembering my rules. They posted anonymously, so hopefully they will post a public comment for you. It is a shame that even in the blogging world, people hide behind their computers and forget that we are all human. Thank you for your original invite to the party, but I will not be linking up anymore. You have a beautiful blog and theme and I appreciate the opportunity.
Oh my, that dog is adorable! What an awesome gift! Isn't it something to see your son grow into a man? It's fascinating to see what they make of their lives.
ReplyDeleteCome on over to my blog and join the giveaway today! There will be a lot more of them this month as I celebrate "A December to Remember."
I love Max the dog! What a very cool gift and beautiful memories all wrapped up in one. =)
ReplyDeleteThat is the best Christmas decoration I have seen this year! One of a kind! Lucky you to be able to display.
