Speaking of photo opportunities, I had a great time Monday night shooting some shots of the full moon here in Texas. It looked like a Halloween moon to me, however, it was just a little early to be called a Halloween moon. I took these shots with my point and shoot camera. I use a Fujifilm FinePix S700 for most of my photography attempts. I was genuinely surprised at this close up of the moon, using just a point and shoot camera. So I a decided to use this night sky photo for my Skywatch Post.
If you click on any of the two pictures, that will make them larger.
The moon is not as clear in this shot, but I still liked it. This is our antique weather vane that belonged to my mother-in-law. We inherited it through her estate. I love this old weather vane. I thought the moon in the distance added a nice touch to the second night sky photo for this week.
Be sure to click HERE to see all the lovely sky photos from around the world. I love to visit all of the places every Friday, and be reminded what a mysterious, beautiful world we live in. I will be back next week, and I promise I will show a photo that does not have the moon as the subject. Have a great weekend.
I like the moon shot today.
ReplyDeleteNice "Sky Watch" today.
Come visit our , Horizontal Light.

PS: The Moon has impressed me so much lately, I did a moon post last week (Oct 8 post)also.
I like them both, and love the little bit of history that you gave with the weather vane.
ReplyDeleteNice shots! I like to have the night ones once in a while too. Funny how we both chose to do moon shots this week! I took one of the Blue Moon we had in September but haven't posted it yet. Thanks for your visits and comments on mine!
ReplyDeleteLove the moon shot. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteCheers

Most excellent perspectives!
ReplyDeleteThat does look like a Halloween moon. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteOkay, you're going to make me crazy. It is Thursday, and I visited you this morning and saw your pretty pitchers. Now you have a Friday post. Wha's up?
ReplyDeleteBTW: I'm giving away a box of books. Come see.

Way cool. But now I'm feeling really wimpy for not trying to take moonshots this week...I didn't want to go out in the cold. You've inspired me to try during the next full moon.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! I like the perspective too:) Mine is posted HERE. Happy SWF!~
ReplyDeleteNice compositions. Great SWF post
ReplyDeleteLovely photo o the moon!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the moon from interesting angles.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the full moon in Texas.
Have a wonderful day!
The moon picture is amazing. It looks a little like Halloween the way the leaves look.
ReplyDeleteI like the weather vane shot because the moon IS so small. I don't know how you can accomplish this with a point and shoot; I thought it had to be a fancy shmancy to take night shots.
ReplyDeleteI love night shots, the world does seem much more mysterious at night..
I really enjoyed these pictures, I have not tried night moon shots.
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to try though. Thank you for sharing them.
I like the weather vane too! It's great. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sky Watch!
those are really neat and interesting photos, great entries....

Both shots are artistic. I like them!
ReplyDeleteBoth are very nice. It's amazing what you can capture with a point-and-shoot camera sometimes. Just goes to show, it's the photographer, not the camera! ;-}
ReplyDeleteShalom Coloradolady. You're right. The moon was nice to all of us this week.
ReplyDeleteYou can see the dark markings (craters?) on your first moon! And it has a bite out of it. :)
Love the first one!
ReplyDeleteI too thought many times this week of a Halloween moon.
Lots of moon images this week, including mine, we all were looking at it. Amazing how all the ones I've seen are so different.
Wonderful full moon! And the weathervane is splendid! Thanks for your visit!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog for SWF. Love your moon too. Fun to think that we're gazing up at the same thing but we're thousands of miles apart! (-:
there are so many great moon shots this week on SWF. That weather vane is beautiful, too! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful shot. You should have that made into a print. (the first one that is)
ReplyDeleteI think it is mysterious and is fantastic....lovely.
That moon shot through the leaves is quite unique... that is amazing! Two thumbs up to that!! WOW...

I really like that weathervane. I'd like to get one like it for my ranch :)
ReplyDeleteThe top photo is amazing...the leaves look a little like spider webs.
Happy Sky Watching!

Love thse, especially the top one. It looked like Halloween-ish to me, because for some reason I decided that little blip silhouetted against the moon looked like a cat's ear...don't ask me why!
ReplyDeleteHere's the fascinating thing about skywatch; your moon in Texas looked just the same as my full moon here in eastern Canada! Happy Skywatch Friday!

I like your moon shots, but your headr I adore.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully spooky.
ReplyDeleteThe moon and stars are most interesting. However, I am waiting for a beautiful rainbow from a Skywatcher.
ReplyDeleteYou have a really good camera to be able to get such a good clear shot. I've tried before but it wasn't clear..
ReplyDeleteReally great and I love the look of the weather vane with the moon.
Thank you for sharing the moon today.
Come by my blog tomorrow I'm having a giveaway.
Judi
wonderful photos love the weather vane too!
ReplyDeleteGreat moon - looks camouflaged!
ReplyDeleteLove the moon shots. I haven't been able to get a good one. Very nice.

ReplyDeleteEnjoy Sky Watch!

Very Halloweenie. The moon is very difficult to photograph most nights - especially with a point and shoot. I heard God made Colorado so Texans would have a place to ski. Pappy
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is amazing! It looks like a scene you would see in a suspense movie.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I have spent some happy nights watching the enormous harvest moon here, but couldn't capture it!
ReplyDeletethis is awesome! wow, specially with the weather vane.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm breathless...so same ideas. I also cought moon the same day when I took my today's SkyWatch photos (but I used another pictures this time). I'm using the simple camera too...And thank you for visiting!
ReplyDeleteCool Moon Shot - I never can get my moon shots to turn out right!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! The October moon was awesome this year and your photos really added to the autumn beauty.
ReplyDeletep.s. loved your pitchers--I collect some too but these were very unique.
Have a great weekend.
Very nice moon shots! I tried too but was unsuccessful. However, that was one beautiful moon and I enjoyed seeing it.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Thank you for seeing my picture and comment.
ReplyDeleteThe full moon has been a popular SkyWatch subject this week! Your shots are very unique and striking! Good job. Happy SkyWatching! Greetings from Iowa.
ReplyDeleteNice full moon here! I tried the same thing but this time it didn't work well enough. =)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! My favorite is the one with the moon between the leaves.
ReplyDeleteI love the first one !
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Ironically, I also took some pictures of the full moon through the trees (although I didn't post them.)
ReplyDeleteI love the 1st shot because it is so wicked looking. COOL! I like the story behind the weather vane. Thanks for stopping by & commenting on my "Time in the Clouds" SWF post.
ReplyDeleteBeutiful set of full moon photos. The first one is my favourite:-) I have never taken so wonderful photo of the night sky so impressively as yours is.
ReplyDeleteI love full moon nights. They are magical.
