I am glad I have something to post this week for Finished For Friday hosted by Lit and Laundry. Be sure to check out all the projects that were finished this week, I assure you, that you will be inspired.
This week, I am going to show you the completed remodel of our master bedroom at our place in Colorado. But like all good reveals, first, are the before pictures. They were not too bad, but it was needing an update.
Basically, here is the same ole' 70's paneling that used to be throughout the cabin.
Another look. With all the windows in this room, it was not too dark...just looked dated.
Remember the wall I told you where we found the alcohol bottle ? Well, this would be said wall. We took out a closet because it added a little more space to the room, behind all of this outdoors siding and multiple layers of wall....was that little bottle. Oh, and this would be Steve as he is telling me for the 100th time that we have way too much work to do to finish in a weeks time. I just smile and say....get busy then!
Once everything was taken down, it was time to build it back up. This was no easy task to say the least. It took several hours to demolish the old walls.
I sorta just stood around with my camera....at least that is what the guys would say....I was really monitoring breaks....as in NO BREAKS...too much work!!
We were lucky, and had wonderful weather the entire week.
I had purchased two wall sconces last fall at the church bazaar. They were used, but I purchased them anyway not knowing if they worked or not.I only paid $20.00 for the two, and felt like maybe someone remodeled and donated their old lights to the church. This is Matt....getting ready to install the lights.
We also installed new ceiling lights. I love this light. I purchased two of these, one for each bedroom. They were on clearance at Cabella's.....and were a steal!
Here is the finished bedroom.....notice the lights? What do you think?? I think they look like they were made for this room.
Remember the tutorial I showed you a couple of weeks ago on making this mirror? Well, here is the finished mirror hanging in the master bedroom. I love this wall decor.
Here is another view........
And this is the view looking the other direction. Do yo see that picture hanging on the wall closest to the door? You will never guess what this is......
This room originally had this stove pipe cover on the ceiling. I showed this quiet a while ago in THIS post back in 2008. I could not bring myself to throw it out. The back still had the original price of .29 cents. I took part of the ceiling paneling, and attached this pipe cover and framed it as a wall hanging. I really love this, and what a great way to save an original part of the room.
Remember I said this was a Finished For Friday post, and well, Steve was pretty much finished, Matt most likely was too, he just tried not to show it. Remember, I was the drill sergeant and allowed no breaks......that's why they both pretty much look finished.........worn out....finished! Steve said he needed a vacation from his vacation!

Wow, Suzanne, that came out so nice. We have a house in the Rist Canyon up above Ft. Collins and have been working on it for a while. Our styles are similar here. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Wow! What a change! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful transformation. I love the wood placed horizontally! You added so many great elements to the room...the ceiling lamp, your mirror, the sconces....my favorite piece is the framed stove pipe cover. That is a great way to preserve a piece of the old cabin. You have a great place!

Good morning Suzanne, since I know what the bedroom looked like I can tell you the new look is wonderful. Love the paneling and the mirror is awesome. Loved the lights and EVERYTHING. Where are you going to hang your clothes. Laughing!!! Of course, on vacation all you need is drawers. Who needs to hang clothes theses days. ME!!! HA! I liked it before and now I love it! Good job well done.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Jeanne
Beautiful room! Love the mirror you made!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great remodel! Your guys did GOOD! The wall sconces are just perfect and so is the ceiling light. The framed stove pipe cover is perfect.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I sometime question how your mind works, I like the idea of the framed stove pipe. I would have probably trashed it. Also, the paneling looks more like logs going horizontally. A great job was done by all.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful. You have created the perfect room for your cabin. The lights are fantastic. We stayed in a cabin a few years ago that was decorated like this and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteOh Suzanne! It looks FANTASTIC! What a great job y'all did! And I love those Cabela lights! To find them on clearance was great (we are a big Cabela family and I know their prices! LOL).
ReplyDeleteWonderful makeover! What a cozy looking bedroom.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, this is really a gorgeous room! Love the new wood and the mirror is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely room~ I am so envious! Makes me want a cup of tea, a book, and no reason to leave the house.

Ha Ha Ha, it's the *projects* that are supposed to be finished, not the people doing them! The room is fantastic and I love the sconces. Thanks so much for linking up to Finished for Friday. Have a great relaxing weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful cosy room! Makes you want to just snuggle right in! Thanks so much for your kind comments on my blog, they were much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThose guys did a wonderful job on that bedroom. That was a lot of work and they should be tired. I hope they got an extra special dinner or two...or three. They worked very hard and the results are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the room...
OMG...that looks awesome...so much of work...and the finish looks so special.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cabin! Great job on the room redo! Those guys look exhausted!
ReplyDeleteWell worth all the hard work! Love the mirror and bed!
ReplyDeletevery nice--don't you just love it when stuff you by 'just in case' works out so well!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love your redo. Have you thought about putting your bed catty corner. The wasted space you would have is a great storage area. I did this in our old house. Just a thought, you may not have room. I just made your cucumber salad to go with our fathers day dinner. Hubs loves cumbers so I know he will enjoy it.
