Skywatch Friday: Viewing clouds from High Altitudes: Colorado

This is my very first Skywatch Friday post. I have been a lurker on this site for a few weeks now, and decided to jump on board this week and post for the first time. Click here to view some of the most magnificent sky pictures from around the world.

Just in case you are wondering if I am losing my mind, no I'm fine. I have not lost my mind completely and I do know what today is (Thursday). From what I have gathered, thursday afternoons is the best time to post....that way the folks on the other side of the globe, who are one day ahead of us can view our pictures as well...so there you have it, a logical explanation. I am still working with all my marbles here....well at least for today, and for the next few minutes.

This picture was taken back in September 2008 when we were in Colorado at our cabin. Since our cabin is a little under 10,000 feet in elevation, it makes for some great shots of clouds. This picture was taken in the afternoon and it was just the right angle for the light in the sky to make this shot unique. This photo has not been touched up in any way. This is how it looked straight out of the camera. I especially love the blue sky.

If you have the time, make your way over to the Skywatch Friday blog. You can not imagine the beautiful pictures from around the world posted there. Mom, if you are reading this, be sure to click and see the photo that is up for this week.....just a glimpse at Heaven's Doors I am sure.

So grab yourself a cup of coffee, and plan on spending the morning or afternoon on a journey around the world looking at all the sky photos. You won't be disappointed in what you find there.
***** I just discovered this was my 50th post to my blog. How exciting it was a Skywatch post and the first time to participate in Skywatch......Just thought I would throw that out there.

  3. What a vivid blue sky!

I read your profile and no, it isn't confusing to say you live in TX but your heart is in Colorado. I Have lived in Indiana for 30 years but my first 20 were spent in Tennessee and my heart still belongs there.

Nice plop of a cloud in the sky. It seems to have the big blue all to itself...

  11. Thanks for the explanation about the Thursday. This is my 4th or
5th Skywatch but I did not understand why we do it on Thursday. Now I know.

Your photograph looks like the clouds are suspended, as I guess they all are now that I think about it.

  13. Stunning addition to sky watch friday with your beautiful view across the horizon.

Thank you for sharing and your kind words on my post.

Sky Watch and the other groups are good fun to share what we see. Know all to well what you mean about you are in one place but your heart is in another. Blogging is wonderful vehicle that allows us to travel to all kinds of places.

  14. Glad to have you at SWF! That's a wonderful cloud, I love it when they look like they mean something, a clue, a message - that's how this one looks to me. Iknow what you mean about where the heart lies. I grew up in Michigan, am now in s. Ontario, but I lived for many years in the Alberta foothills, and they never leave me.

  35. When I see other swf photos that are hazy, I have to remind myself they are not at our altitude and, they have HUMIDITY. It tends to affect photo quality when 'shooting' the sky. You photo is lovely. Captures the brilliance of the Colorado skies.

  36. Hi! So where in Texas are you?

Love your sky photo...beautiful. Couldn't live at 10,000 feet...I get ill at over 8,000. Must be a beautiful place for a cabin!
