Vintage Thingie Thursday: Vintage Vase and Vintage Cards - And Senior Birthday List!!

Welcome everyone to Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you have a love for vintage things, have come to the right place. We have a "dog-gone" good time each and every week!!!
If you are new to this party, please take the time to
read and follow the instructions for participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday, click HERE. I try and keep things fairly simple, so  please make sure you follow the instructions. Please only ONE link per week.
This week I have a cute little vase I found that just screams 1970's to me! At first, when I saw this I thought it might be some type of milk glass, but I am not sure, it is pretty thick. No matter, I loved the little flowers.

Here is a side shot of the little vase. No markings at all on this sorta reminded me of the glass you would see in things that were made by Avon during the 1970's, but like I said....there were no markings.

I think it looks so cute in my window ledge....makes me smile!!!

Now another thing I want to share is the Birthday card for seniors. My blogging friend who inspired this opportunity passed away suddenly last month and it was a tragic shock for her family and friends. Infact, one of her last post on facebook was about a Birthday coming up and sending out a card.

I'd like to encourage you to do just that....bless a senior with a card and a dollar bill.....not only will it brighten someone's day, but it is also keeping the giving spirit of my friend, Pat alive and well.

I picked these vintage cards up at an estate sale.....I just love vintage cards and may very well send one out this month.

We have two Birthdays this month....

Joyce Walker will be 80!! She is full of life, loves chickens and roosters, takes care of her husband better than you could ever imagine!! A very special lady indeed!! Her Birthday is July 2nd...I know very near, but she loves to "Birthday" long after the date so go ahead and mail a card with 1.00....she won't mind she loves surprises!!

The second one is also a Joyce, she will be 82. She lost her husband a few years ago, but still does more for herself than she ever should be doing at this age!! Full of life and loves to save a buck!!! I know a card and a dollar would thrill this one beyond believe as well....if you can 't send a dollar, a card will do just fine. Her birthday is July 18th.

As always, thank you so much for being a part of this project....and I'd like to ask instead of taking the time to leave me a comment, instead write a Birthday note and send to these special ladies!! Help me make their day a little brighter and full of fun and a super surprise by a card shower!!!

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday everyone....have a wonderful holiday weekend!!!

  1. love that vase- so retro- and those cards are adorable!

  2. I love the vase! It does look like milkglass from the 70's! Very cute. I am going to send cards to both of these special ladies! hugs, Linda

  3. You can't look at that vase and not smile. It's very cute!

  4. I love to use things other than vases for flowers

  5. What a lovely gesture, Suzanne! Not only will the birthday cards give the elderly great joy, but I'm sure for many the money will be quite helpful.

  7. "Happy Birthday to those two beautiful ladies"...
Oh Yes your mug does scream 70s, and the first thing I thought of was "it's AVON"! It makes a wonderful vase!
    Have a wonderful week,
    Hugs to you,

  8. I'm sorry about your friend...we all share in losing friends.
Love your little cute vase..and it does look like Avon. Doubt that it is since there's no markings.
Thanks for being so loyal and always having VTT ready for us.
    xoxo bj

  9. What a wonderful project, I'm so touched. I'll send out the cards right now. So sorry for the loss of your friend too. I feel for her family. Sudden loss is difficult to handle.

  10. I haven't done VTT in ages because the thrifting has been awful around here, I even posted about that... Thought I would stop by and say HI! Hope all is well with my vintage pals, um. That didnt come out right :)

  11. Love your vintage wares and so sorry to hear about your friend!! Thanks for hosting!!

  12. What a good idea to send these ladies cards. I will mail some out to them

Wouldn't it be fun to get a card wishing you happy birthay from someone you didn't even know?

  13. Hi Suzanne,
So sorry about your friend. The "Cards" project is such a meaningful way to honor her memory. I am so excited about the "Cards for Seniors" project and will send cards to the two ladies you described in your post. What a wonderful idea...hope you will keep it going so that we can all honor our Seniors in this way. Thanks so much for giving us this opportunity and for your wonderful blog.
    Happy 4th!

  14. I was sorry to hear about your friend's passing. Most of us can relate. Thanks for doing the linky. First time I am joining in. xo

  15. Hi Suzanne,
Your Cards for Senior project is a wonderful idea. Thanks for the inspiration and reminder. I will send a card to your friends and I have a couple of my own that I can reach out to as well. How caught up we get in our own lives that we forget about those who don't get out and about like they once did. Your little 70s vase is darling too. Great colors. Thanks for hosting this fun party.

  16. I've not seen a glass like that. Fun how the flower matches perfectly! Have a great weekend!

  17. What a lovely idea sending cards to seniors. They do get lonely and treasure every card and note!

  18. Sorry, I am running late on some of my comments. I like that little vase. I still cannot vision where you have all these neat things stashed. Wish more would participate in the senior cards, That blue bottle does belong to you know who. Had to wash it first.

  19. this is JUST GREAT!! I am so excited to do this with my daughter. I LOVE this idea.....big hugs from a new fan. Trish
