Begging And Giving!!!

OK....I admit it....I have stooped to begging!
But along with the begging, there is something in it for you as well.....a GIVEAWAY!!!

Here is the story:

A few weeks ago, I met my swap partner for the Brown Bag Quilt contest and she had made a quilt using 2 inch squares.....I knew I had to make myself one of these quilts, it was love at first sight so to speak. Uses up lots of scraps and I wanted to finish it by next summer. Tall order I guess.

Well, to make a long story short, I need 4096 pieces (2" pieces) or more for a King size quilt.......my problem.....

After raiding my stash and scrap bin I have managed to only sew together 614 pieces and that is everything I have. I have used almost all different fabrics but as you can see, this project has become rather daunting. I am not even a quarter of the way with what I need.

I decided I'd use my blog to BEG for donations to this project. I don't need large pieces, only enough to cut a 2" square. The fabric could be mailed in an envelope one piece or several.

Don't worry about cutting the squares, I'll do that myself...just need a small piece. * Fabric used in this quilt is cotton fabric, fabrics suitable for quilting,  just plain ole good ole cotton!

The Giveaway:

I am offering a $20.00 gift card from Walmart or JC Pennys (winner's choice) for this giveaway. I will keep all envelopes and draw from the envelopes received, so be sure your name is either on the envelope or inside. For every 300 different fabric swatches I receive, I will add another $20.00 gift card to the pot, up to $100.00. So there are five chances to win one of these cards for a small donation of a small scrap or scraps of fabrics.

Leave me a comment and let me know you plan to enter...if you advertise on your blog about this giveaway, facebook it or tweet, let me know and I will add your name in the pot two more times.

Surely, with all the quilters and crafters out there in blog land, I should be able to get a little closer to my goal with this giveaway. And someone will get a little help with their upcoming holiday shopping!

All entries mailed to:

729 Winnie St.
Ft. Worth, Tx 76112

This will run until November 5, 2010, I will draw and announce the winner(s) on November 6, 2010. Good Luck....and thanks in advance for allowing me to beg for help!!

  1. Hi! I just found you blog hopping from a Blog Party, I wanted to say this is an awesome Idea, and I'll try to contact you later about helping you out. My BF bought me a sewing machine two months ago, and I'm so intimidated by it that I haven't learned to use it yet. This is a monumental task. Good luck!

  21. AW! I have so many unfinished quilt parts and pieces! I am impressed that your goal is to finish this by next summer! What a great quilt that will be! And goodness...a king size???

With working outside the home and art orders (although I love, love, love the drawing...working outside the home, I would not be sad to "retire" from :o)... I havent been by in a while, since I barely manage to get one post up a week, have time to visit back to those that comment on my post and try very hard to not be permanently attached to the computer! But I wanted to let you know that I once again had to share your darling dachshunds on my current post.

Oh...I will gladly send you some scraps, even if you did not have a giveaway :o) While we were traveling a very long flight, unexpected layover, and a wonderful visit to my hubby's family in Hawaii, I was able to bring along some hand quilting! Yay! It has been forever and I hope to get some quilts done before we start having grandbabies! haha

    Blessings & Aloha!

I'm not a quilter, but I do love fabric. I can send you a few scraps. I'm very impressed with what you've done so far.

    Happy Quilting!

  41. I am making the same quilt, though smaller, and am having trouble getting enough squares as well; I'm using each fabric twice as I would never amass enough for using them once. I have lots of 'third' pieces already cut and will send them out this week. Your mail carrier may retire after this week!

  49. I, too, found my way here via your comment on Judy`s blog. I think your post is brilliant and the responses are a testament to the generosity of quilters everywhere. It`s like a quilt lotto, a few scraps in exchange for a chance at a $20 shopping spree? I`m IN! (I`m sure we`d all have contributed even WITHOUT the gift card offer.)
