I am sure at some point, I have mentioned the fact that I collect black bears....and have a room dedicated to all my bears. I have some brown bears, but I really love the black bears. I thought I'd show you a few of my bear treasures.
I found this great metal serving plate at Goodwill a few weeks ago. I just love it. I love the fluted edges and the fact that I don't think it was used much. The back has the owners name and phone number, I left it there....I don't really know how old this is, but I am pretty sure it is a vintage piece.
This little black bear was found at a local antique shop, I think...I really can not remember where I got him.....I think this would make a great toothpick holder. I love the three little fish at the base.
This set of brown bears came from a local antique shop. I thought they were so cute, these are really very small in size.
(click on photo to make larger) This is a great vintage drawing book. I knew the minute I found this I had to have it. You can learn to draw cartoon bears as demonstrated above or the more life like bears below.
These pages show you how to draw black bears...
Here are the pages for drawing Grizzlies....funny thing is, I am not an artist and even though this is a charming book...it really did me no good at all. Even my cartoon bears looked like they had big problems...
Well, that is it today, hope you liked a few of my vintage bear items. I will see ya' next week for more vintage goodies! Have a great weekend everyone!

Oh Suzanne....of course you would collect bears - what great pieces! Mr. Squash and I have actually come face-to-face with a black bear while fly fishing - he was afraid of us as we were of him, but we sure have a great story to tell!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
What an adorable collection of bears you have going on, Suzanne! So glad you shared them with us!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fun thing to collect. The little ones are so cute.
ReplyDeleteAren't they just the cutest!
ReplyDeleteI love when you add things to your bear collection. That drawing book is awesome!
ReplyDeletei love the tiny figurines..they are ssoo cuute :
ReplyDeleteI love your collection! I bet you see a lot of bears in CO. I know we did when we lived there. I love the drawing book!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful collection. We actually got to see one in North Carolina Smoky Mnts. It just strolled right across the road in front of us like it was a deer.

these are very cool indeed!!!
ReplyDeletecome by and enter the give away I linked to your post today!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your bear collection...that little toothpick? holder is just precious and the drawing book is really great too. Do you ever see any bears where you are?
ReplyDeleteI added a new link -- the first one wasn't working because it was missing the "l" in "html"
ReplyDeleteI wondered when you would get around to showing of them. This is just a drop in the bucket. I am sure in time, she will share more with us.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how many different collections you have! Cute bears!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection!
ReplyDeleteWe have never seen bears around here. Guess we are too low (1500 ft.) but every once in a while a bear will waltz into someones backyard up country and scare the life out of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm into Polar Bears myself. I love them and someday I'm going to Churchill,in Canada, to see them.
I suspect that the best bears are the ones you have. It's probably safer that way. It's a wonderful collection.
Love your bears! I collect bears and bear things. I have a little set of the three bears you pictured. One of my favorite little bear things is a bear in a crate (about 2"X4") that is from California. It has a mailing label on the back, so it could be sent to someone through the mail.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Oh I just love the little bears!
ReplyDeleteLovely bears! It looks like a serious collection, with literature and all.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, I remember now, how you collect bears... I love that How TO Draw Bears book, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your bears. As you know if you saw ANY of my vacation posts, I too am a BIG FAN of the black bear!
ReplyDeleteSo many cute bears! I really love those tiny ones with the red stickers! Those are fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great collection of bears - nice variety too. We had a bear rug growing up and when a friend of mine came over she about died when our pet racoon greeted her hanging upside down on the front porch. But when she saw the bear rug draped over the stairs I think she wet her pants!
ReplyDeleteBears, what a great collection! Have you tried to do any of the drawings yet? How fun!
ReplyDeleteSherrie

I like that book on how to draw bears. Those type of art books always fascinate me. And yes, I have to see what I'm capable of when it comes to drawing. The verdict is still out on that one.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute little bears. I think I used to have that book when I was much younger. Never did learn to draw well though!
ReplyDeleteDawn
I sure love bears too! Nice collection! Here at my place, it is bears and moose objects. Mr. Wonderful bought me a pair of wood carved bears that are about 3 ft. tall - they guard our stairwell to the top floor! Thanks for sharing your bears today!
ReplyDeleteLove the beary cute collection- I am goofy, fine- but most espeically the book!
ReplyDeleteI recently picked up a ceramic bear holding a pot. The pot now holds kitchen utensils. I've seen bear (briefly) while on my mail route. I especially like the bear plate but all are great.
ReplyDeleteI love black bears too. Our office is decorated with them.
ReplyDeleteYou are soo right ... bears do need love too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sandi
