Welcome everyone to Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you are new to this party, please take the time to read and follow the instructions for participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday, click HERE. I try and keep things fairly simple, so please make sure you follow the instructions. I have gotten a few complaints about people linking in and not doing what is required, please, try and visit each and every participant, that is really important. I know we are all busy, but even if it takes a few days to do so, please do that. Lastly, if you link in, LINK back to my blog, so everyone can see all of the vintage goodies being showed that day. If you don't link back here, they won't know who to visit......thanks so much.
*****New Link Below:***** I am trying out a new link system from McLinky. This is really a neat concept and hope this works well for us here at Vintage Thingie Thursday.
(1) Add your URL in the spot provited, then add blog or post title in the second spot.
(2) upload a picture for you post today, you can crop photo once it has been loaded, follow instructions. (It does not have to be the first picture on your post, just upload the picture you want to show in the thumbnail) That's it. Mine is the FIRST link, I had to see how this worked for myself!!! Your blog name and link plus a photo should show up in the link if you do this correctly. I want to see how this works this week! I really sort of like this new system.
Today's post will be short and sweet.....I have had these pictures for a long time. They were acquired back in the fall of 1981. They came from down around Waco. I don't know why I kept these, as I can tell you for sure, I have nothing else saved from this short time in my life....and we will just leave it at that.
These are ceramic, and were sure vintage back in 1981. I have no idea how old this set is, but I know they are rather old. I really have always liked this set.
Don't you just love the little cottage in the woods?
This is a nice image too, so serene. Makes me want to take a walk down the path.
The back still has the original stickers. Yes, I am glad I saved these and need to find a place for them....they were discovered a few days ago when my husband and I cleaned out our garage. Now, they are inside....waiting for me to put them on the wall!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Your plates are adorable and a hoot-3D and very timely!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm the first to join today...I've been joining VTT since 2008 and I've never been first before!
The new thumbnail was very easy to do. :)
Such sweet little scenes on both of them! I hope you find a nice spot for them to hang, so that you can really enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT!
Carol
Those are very lovely, what pretty details! The little cottage is very sweet,

I wonder if those were part of a set - 4 seasons? I like the Linky you have used on this post!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne,
ReplyDeleteI am participating with you tonight, but it is not letting me put the picture on Mr, Linky, it gives me an error code :( I have tried, as I know I am doing it right, just not taking it.
Anyway, thanks for hosting this great party, again.
Robin
Love those, so charming!
ReplyDeleteSally
Suzanne, I think your ceramic pictures are adorable. I know you were thrilled to re-find them. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting such a fun party!
Fondly,

so happy you rediscovered these treasured items, they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour plates are darling! I'm a new follower and just participated in my first Vintage Thingies Thursday..cute name BTW:)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen ceramic pictures like that.
ReplyDeleteI like the old linky better.
It took me awhile, but finally got in the new way. This way, you do not know who anyone is. I will never get any more comments. Sky Watch does it similar to this, but you know who the blogger is. Change is good, and we need to accept it. But it is harder for some of us.
ReplyDeleteWhat great fun to re-find something..little treasures like these. They're so pretty..I know you're going to enjoy them..
ReplyDeleteand in the piece down below..I love the plate border. I love, love, love it. I'm just not sure whether nicks or not,I could have done it. I'm prou you did, cause it's beautiful. Happy VTT..thank you for being our lovely hostess again..
Just darling!

what precious little works of art :)
ReplyDeleteI can see why you kept them. They are very different and lovely. Thanks for the tip on reviving silk flowers below. I can certainly use it in the future. I saw the plate border idea on another blog not too long ago. She had been doing it for awhile. I think her name is Sue and she loves thrift shops too. Can't remember her blog name though ...
ReplyDeleteI love 3-dimensional art. These are great "cabin" type art, perfect for you!
ReplyDeleteI've used this linky tool on other memes, and it always works well!
It's amazing what we find when we start "cleaning out," isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHubby and I have been cleaning out items we had stored in one of our barns. I can't believe the cool stuff we're finding...that we forgot we had. LOL
I really like the scenes on your ceramics. Anything with landscapes appeals to me.
I would love to have you visit the cottage and join in the giveaway fun.

I don't like the new thumbnail system because the pictures are way too small! I'd rather have the old system back. My vintage eyes could read the words. Today I'm squinting at tiny photos and it's very frustrating!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry, but I picked up the right picture but it took me to the wrong post. I don't know how to take it off. Hope it does not cause any trouble.

Suzanne, these are just beautiful! I love them :) I'll be linking in later this evening. Be sure and check my Jubilee Gallery blog post to see some interesting things they did with dishes. I thought of you while taking the photos!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm....very unusual. Vintage Japan is so collectible. It's nice that they are entirely ceramic. I hope to link up this week but....life is in full swing.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I've ever seen any plates like this before. Very unusual and pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne! I have named you "Queen of the Rockies!! Thanks for being our hostess for another VTT. I like your little plates. Wow, 1981 is now vintage, that just seemed like yesterday. I made a mistake on the new Linky (my fault, not his, I think I added to many ll's to html) You will see my post twice, one goes nowhere. Oops, sorry, my mistake. Other than my silly error, I really like this new system!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Susan and Bentley

hi Suzanne - these are sooooooo cute and unique. I have found some really cool old china patterns that were also from Japan. Nice collection - find them a space!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pieces. Aren't you glad you kept them, and forgetting about them makes them all the better. I like your new picture sign up for the VTT. Looks nice.
ReplyDeleteLove the 3-D art! It is amazing what we find when we start cleaning out! I have been doing spring cleanning for 3 weeks and still finding treasures I forgot I had. Blessings, Vicky
ReplyDeleteThese are great plates - love the 3D effect! I like this new McLinky thingy.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your meme very much. And am thrilled that you now have thumbnails for each link. Wish all memes would do this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I don't blame you for wanting to put these out for all to see. Would you mind fixing my link? I left a "s" out after 'sales'. I think that should fix it. If I am able to fix it myself, please let me know how. Thanks.
ReplyDeletefun new Mr. Linky - - - you're STRETCHING us, girl!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know for sure, but the wall plates in your post scream "circa 1950" to me.
The images on your plates remind me of the images on vintage postcards that I like so much.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, Suzanne ...Well it's kind of cool with the pictures but I can't really read what people are saying which is a hint of what the post is like. Which I do like.
ReplyDeleteSo, dunno. But if you like it, I love it :)
Tracy
I love the little cabin in the woods too. They are very cute ceramic pictures.
ReplyDeleteAnn
