Blog Friendships Are Real.......Never Forget That

Friendships.....that word means so much to so many. We all have them....friends at work...friends at home....childhood friends....sports friends....there are many different kinds of friends.

For me, the most truest friends, the ones whom we can count on day in and day out are our blogging friends. They are the friends who have kindred spirits with each of us and from the instant we "meet" them, it is like we have known them our whole lives. We share in their happiness, sorrows, struggles and support each other, expecting nothing in return....the true sense of a friendship at its best.

When I first started my blog, there were a handful of ladies who gave support, and I am happy to call friend today. One of them was CC from Lace 'n' Ribbon Roses. I have been shocked to learn from her son from a message he posted on her blog that due to health issues, she passed away on September 5th. I have been anticipating her returning back to her blog soon from her break....not this.....

I will feature a special Vintage Thingie Thursday post dedicated to this sweet lady who loved Sunbonnet Sue and was a real friend in every sense of the word. I have heard so many people say that "these bloggers" are not really your don't even know them!

Well, all I can say, is, if that is true...then please explain to me why the loss of this sweet friend, whom I have never met in person hurts so very much.....Blog friendships are real, and they run deep....I love you guys don't forget that, you add so much to my life and in return, I hope I add a little to yours too.

~ Rest in Peace CC will be so very missed my sweet friend.

**Image used above is from CC's blog, it was a part of a vintage sticker pack I found at an estate sale and sent them to CC. I was so proud when I saw she turned it into a button on her blog. I don't think she'd mind me using it here today.

  1. Yes, they are. Some of the dearest people in my life are unmet friends whose words and pictures and support and confidence have made a lovely part of my life.

My sincerest condolences to you for the loss of your friend, and to her Family, for the loss of such a sweet, caring Friend to so many.

This was a lovely eulogy, and I hope everyone who cared about her gets to see it.

  2. Thank you for this post, Suzanne. I too was shocked to hear of CC's passing and have been thinking of her and her family all day long. She will be missed...

  3. Thank you for doing this. I have the words in my heart, but not up to putting them in writing. I missed her, and will even more now. She would have been thrilled that you honored her in this manner.

  4. Wow, Suzanne, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Although I do not know CC - and I am just getting to know you as I am still a relatively new follower of your blog - I know that these connections are very real and that they do matter to us.

I am thrilled that she would be honored by the tribute you are paying her, and that her family will be blessed even as they mourn her loss to know that she reached people all around the globe.

  5. If they are not real..why did I cry like a baby..hurt from the loss..yes our friends in blogland are real!!And very much loved..and CC will be missed!! I know you must be hurting so much more than those who barely knew her. Know that I am praying for you and for the blogland community over this loss!!
    Hugs..Cindy from Rick-Rack and Gingham

  6. Suzanne, what you stated so well is quite true. An excellent tribute to your very real friend. hugs♥olive

  7. I totally agree with you My friends in blogland are as real as any others. I'm so sorry for the loss of your blogging friend. It really makes me want to cry as others have expressed. Non-bloggers just do not understand. You have to be a blogger to know and love another one.

  8. I'm so sorry to hear about CC. It must have been such a shock.

While I never had the pleasure of meeting CC, I totally agree with you about our blogging friends--they are just as "real" as any other type. I think the thing that makes our blogging friendships special is that they begin based on a common interest then flourish from there. While no less important, other friendships occur based on circumstances--working at the same place, being next door neighbors. These friendships occur from being "thrown together". Sometimes they last when the circumstances change; sometimes they don't.

Anyway, hugs to you, Suzanne. I'm so sorry for your loss.

  9. Suzanne when I read the post yesterday from CiCi's son and friend I cried. I can't believe she is gone. I always enjoyed her Sunbonnet Sue posts so much! I will look forward to participating in next Thursdays VTT and I will find some Sunbonnet Sue's my Mom gave me to post about in CiCi's Memory! The friends we make are so special here in blogland. Unless you are a part of it you will never understand. You have put it into beautiful words!

  10. My only encounters with CC were through you and VTT. It brings to light how kindred spirits can connect regardless of how and become friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

  11. I didnt read her blog, but a tribute like this and also the comments I am reading would only be due a wonderful woman. Im praying for them and you in the loss of your friend.

And yeah, blog friends? I have found that some are more real than my in-person friends! For instance, you. A few months ago with the house stuff, I cant even begin to tell you how encouraging and uplifting your comments were. Many people I know in real life just avoided the subject all together.

  12. I too was shocked when I heard about CC this morning. I remember her as the Sunbonnet Sue Lady. My condolences to her family and friends.

  13. I am so sorry to earn one of your blogging friends has passed. It was wonderful of her son to update the blog.

  14. Oh, they are real..I've formed bonds with bloggers that I've never had in the physical world. We can travel around the world and back...laugh, cry, support, empower and yes...LOVE and be Loved.

I'm so sad to hear this news of CC's passing...trying to stop the tears but they will not stop.

    Stephanie ♥

  15. I am so sorry to hear about CC. She always commented when I participated in the Vintage Thingy Thursdays. She was a very sweet thoughtful woman, whose blog and friendship will be missed.

  16. Suzanne you are right we look forward to our blogger friends lives and activities as we do our neighbours. I feel that most are here with me having that cuppa inbetween life...I did not know of CC but feel for you and all the many followers in her heart is heavy knowing that our virtual loss of friends is just as hard as `the friend next door

  17. What a sweet tribute to your friend. I don't think I knew her....but I surely understand how much it must have hurt you to find out she had passed away. I'm so sorry.

  20. I'm so sad to hear this. I have only been participating in VTT for a short time but I loved her posts because my Mum is such huge Sunbonnet Sue fan.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Suzanne.

  21. Thank you Suzanne for remembering CC. It helps bring some comfort for myself (CC's online best friend from Singapore) and especially her family too.

CC lives forever in bloggerland and she is being remembered in at least three other sites. You can view CC's other blog in
Thank you once again Suzanne and am sure CC will be very pleased.

  22. Very nicely written. When I told my husband, he said he didn't really understand my blogging relationships, but he knew they were important to me. So true! CC will be missed.

  24. Hello Suzanne,
I am new to blogs and was given your link as one of the tributes to our mutual friend CC.
I want to thank you for your kind words and wonderful eulogy dedicated to a lovely lady. She so touched many who had contact with her. I never met her personally as I live in the UK but I so wish I had been able to as she was such a positive influence in my life.
Thank you again and to your many other friends who have posted comments.

  25. Oh Suzanne, I am so sorry. I didn't know about CC. Like you, I only know her from her online posts but she had such a great spirit. You know something when you are just communicating with someone online you do come to know a lot about them. The reason you continue to visit them is because they like the same things you do and for some, their true spirit shines through so there is little artifice. I also believe our modern world de-emphasizes the kind of relationships we develop online with kindred spirits because everyone is so busy. It is so much easier to keep in touch online. So you are right: Online friendships can develop into really supportive relationships and sometimes they are just what we need to get over a hump.

  26. I've been on a bit of a break myself-definitely not visiting as much as usual. I'm so sorry to hear about CC-she will be deeply missed. Thank you for posting and letting all of us know.

  27. Suzanne, thank you for dedicating this week's VVT to CC. Sorry you have lost such a dear friend.

  28. WOW it is so hard when you lose a close friend. I know what you are going through as my husband lost his dear friend the morning of his brothers wedding. It is a struggle each and every day.... My prayers are with you.

Sometimes someone says something really small, and it's like it fits into this empty space in your heart!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts here, they really mean a lot to me!
