This week, I want to continue with some purchases made at the same estate sale I talked about last week. Remember the pink milk glass? Well, here is another set of white milk glass. Both sets are unusual and I am very pleased with finding them.
The description on this set said "VERY RARE - I don't know why" HUH?? What kind of description is that?? Are they really wanting to sell this or what? Rare, but you don't know why? Well, it was priced to be a very rare piece. I passed on the first day.
But I kept thinking about the delicate red flowers on the white milk glass and decided to go back on the last day of the sale, when everything was discounted and see if the set was still there. I guess you can figure out that it was within price range on the last day!
Here is a really great set of red striped salt and pepper shakers from the same sale. These are glass with red plastic tops. I guess I could have cleaned them up a bit before they had their photo shoot, but you get the idea....they are a yummy red. And a bargain for $3.00.
Yes, I am glad I made the trip back over to the sale to see if this little set was still waiting for a new home. I still don't get the RARE part of the description nor the remark about I DON'T KNOW WHY part either.
Do you have any idea why someone would put a description like that on a piece they are trying to sell? Do any of you professionals out there really think this is a rare set? If so, why? All I know, I like the set and I am glad I brought it home with me.
Oh, and the pretty little white and red stripe kitchen towel in the photos. That is from the same sale. It was not white, however. It was a faded yellow and rusty red when I brought this home. And with a good soaking I told you about here, really makes this little towel look new again.
Have a great week everyone! There are lots of estate sales in my area this weekend, so you know I will busy in between working and sleeping......but it is just so much fun to explore other people's treasures, I don't mind sacrificing a little sleep!

Morning girl...Happy Vintage Thursday!!! I love the 'treasures' you got! I wouldn't care if they were rare or just from the dollar store....they are just so vintage and pretty...love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteRed is my favorite color, so these items get two thumbs up from me...very pretty, Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteAh, these would look so good in MY red kitchen...!! They are precious..
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! I guess they marked it rare to justify the price they were trying to charge for it.
ReplyDeleteSome people don't have the correct words to describe something that will cause a buyer to spend, spend, spend. lol
ReplyDeleteooo--delicious, delightful, yummy red--what a great find--aren't you so glad you returned to the sale! And have a wonderful time visiting estate sales this weekend. We are supposed to have a blizzard so I guess I will be staying home!

ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne, I came over to enjoy the vintage posts. I am going to join in next week. I LOVE anything vintage and always have. I do have a houseful of things to share.
ReplyDeleteYour milk glass is pretty and I haven't seen that pattern. The S&P's look like the 40's or 50's but I really do not know for sure. I think they are great. the description on them is silly. ???
Have a great day.
Hugs...Jeanne
Love your "rare" dishes!! I have the same salt and peppers!

Stephanie
Those dishes are great! I'm particularly fond of the salt and pepper shakers!
ReplyDeleteTHese are great finds; so "you"! Once again a great job cleaning your linens!
ReplyDeleteLove your red items. Do you think someone painted the flowers on the milk glass? It looks almost like Gay Fad even though that was Fire King.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne...once again you got some great finds at the estate sale...too funny about the description...LOL...it's always fun to come by & see what's on your Vintage Thingie Thursday! Happy weekend, ;-) Bo
ReplyDeletelucky you to find them when you went back again...lovely treasures :)
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty. I have just discovered milk glass and have only 1 piece I bought at a thrift store. A very tall vase for $2. I saw the same thing at an antique store last week for $15 so I felt I got a good deal. They had ALOT of milk glass at this antique store so I see myself going back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for VTT I've enjoyed seeing things that I have packed away that others have as well.
Erika
Thanks for stopping by, Suzanne. I've got more thinking to do about how to transform my 'thing' into a china cabinet, but I am more determined than ever now!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am definitely going to have to participate in your 'Vintage Thingie' very soon. Your thingies are very nice! (ohmy, maybe that didn't come out quite right).
That's beautiful milk glass! What good luck that they were there for you on the last day. I picked up a bargain for you that way once too. It was meant to be.
ReplyDeleteWhere have these little darlings been all my life!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHope to link back with you this week. Have missed VTT very much!
