I am linking in today with Judy for her Design Wall Monday. I finished my string quilt I was working on and started the first part of January. I seem to sometimes feel I am just a slow quilter, and always am amazed at how much other quilters get done. Maybe that is my own fault, I love the piecing part of the process but when it is time to put it all together...not so much. I always procrastinate and lose interest at that point very easily. But alas...it is done and off to be quilted.
I like how it turned out and I think I will make another one somewhere down the road. I certainly have the scrap pieces for it.
The back has some of the same browns but in a floral print. I thought the fabric I choose worked well with the front and it is one piece. I usually love to piece the backs, but this on I decided against it. Can not wait to finish this one up and give it to the folks it was made for.
And because my string bins are overflowing..I pulled out all my pink strings and decided to make some string blocks using pink. I am really not so much a pink person but am amazed at the amount of pink I have and thought I'd try to clear some of that out of the bins.
These will trim out at 6 1/2 inches. There are 25 blocks in this stack so far and you'd think that would have used up a lot of strings out of my bin.....
...But these are the strings I STILL have after the 25 blocks above. I am not sure how many blocks I will make, but I see I can make several more and still most likely no use all of these pinks up.....tell me how does this happen?? Around here things seem to multiply instead of clearing out!!
Oh well...have a great sewing day if you are able to get in sewing in today!! It is cold here and I have lots to do, and maybe a little sewing!!

ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your string quilt. I SO want to make one set like that....but I keep finding more and more that I want to make. LOL Keep sewing' on those pink strings. They're going to make a gorgeous quilt too. And, you know strings multiply in the dark at night, right? That's got to be the explanation for how the more you sew, the more there are.
