This week I wanted to show you some of my wonderful new finds. I found these wonderful pillowcases at a couple of estate sales, they needed lots of TLC, but they perked right up with a little love.
These floral designs are really neatly done, and the lace edges add a sweet touch to the pillowcase.
Here is a close-up. The cases with the lovely dogwoods were so badly discolored, I did not know if they would come clean and white again. But they look wonderful. The hand work on these were definitely done by someone experienced.
I love these! The lady in the middle with the southern belle dress is really pretty. These are all pairs, I just showed one of each set.
My favorite is the little birds. Look how sweet they look. I have only recently developed a fondness for these pillowcases. I have seen them before and left them without not paying too much attention to them. Can you imagine that? Now, I have started noticing these at estate sales, and if the price is right, I am snatching them up! Go figure.
I hope you take the time to visit all the participants today, and look at all the goodies on display....Oh, and let me give you a heads up for next week. I am going with a theme for next weeks VTT.
Title: What was I thinking?
Have you ever purchased something and thought what am I going to do with that? Well, recently I did just that.....you will see next week! If you have one of these moments too, share them with the theme of next weeks post....this should be a nice spin to VTT and lots of fun!
OH. MY. I forgot all about taking a picture of my giveaway for my 200th post....I tell you my mind is going quick! I am giving away four coaster sets with RETRO designs! Trust me they are c-u-t-e! Just leave a comment to this post and I will use random.org to pick the winners....

Well you know I love vintage pillowcases and these are wonderful to begin a collection. I especially like the crocheted edges but anyone of these would be welcomed. The birds are cute and all of these have such beautiful stitching.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up we had a lot of those---don't know what ever happened to them--wore out I guess. They were made by my mother---she did some of this kind of hand work---although i don't know how she had the time.
ReplyDeleteOooooo, I love your sweet pillowcases. If I had to choose a favorite..it would be the Southern Belle. They are all just beautiful..now I scamper away. Have to shut down..more bad weather almost here.

ReplyDeletehello, what beautiful linens, I am off to our local shops tomorrow to see what I can find!!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I just started craving pillowcases as well. Maybe it's something in the air. Yours are very sweet, I've always loved that southern belle.
ReplyDeleteAnd what was I thinking? Geez. How many times have I asked myself that question?
There is nothing like the feel of vintage linens. What a lovely collection you have.
ReplyDeleteOh Suzanne, you know I am just crazy about your pillowcases! and that you have pairs! Lucky, lucky you! They are all adorable, but the way the crinoline skirt was made with the crochet trim is just too clever!
ReplyDeleteI love your pillowcases! And I can't thank you enough again for sharing your "secret" sauce for cleaning old linens...lol...right now I have some soaking in it! I loved when I was young to sit in the yard with all the neighborhood ladies...and embroider for hours! French knots were my favorite stich to do back then, perhaps you have inspired me to pull out the hoop and embroidery thread! I love the birdie one best! And congrats on your 200th post! The coasters are adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove the linens!!!! Reminds me of something my mom would have loved to have had.
ReplyDeleteI used to do work like that on all my linens when I was a teenager. My grandma had the patterns. I don't have a clue what ever happened to them and they were good too...lol Thanks for visiting my 1 day decorating post. To say I was on a budget is a understatment.
ReplyDeleteI love old linens! There is something about them that just tells a story! Those coasters are awesome, too!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE vintage pillowcases. I have some that are badly stained that I need to get clean. What is your cleaning secret? I have tried soaking in Oxyclean with no luck...
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that no one embroiders pillow cases anymore? No time?
ReplyDeleteI love the coasters. Neat.
Love your post today - you and I were both thinking pillowcases, weren't we? Those coasters are adorable - who will the lucky winner be?
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pillowcases...takes me back when I was about 12 my mom taught me how to embroider...sure wish I had some of her work today...
ReplyDeletethanks for hosting vtt
Brings back memories of me as a kid, like young, about 6 maybe, and learning how to embroider. I was doing it on a pillowcase. Seems that was THE thing to do! Like the dancing girls.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I never tire of reading the VTT post. I am finding it is a lot of work, but rewarding.
ReplyDeleteOh Girl I just love those pillow slips you got..I still don't know how someone can just toss them out..it takes alot of work to do them..Love the Southern Belle..thanks for sharing my friend...may you have a great day...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
