Vintage Thingies Thursday: Vintage Sewing Notions

Welcome everyone to Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you have a love for vintage things, well....you have come to the right place. We have a really good time each and every week!!!
If you are new to this party, please take the time to
read and follow the instructions for participating in Vintage Thingies Thursday, click HERE. I try and keep things fairly simple, so please make sure you follow the instructions. Please only ONE link per week. Lastly, if you link in, LINK back to my blog, so everyone can see all of the vintage goodies on display that day. If you don't link back here, they won't know who to visit......thanks so much.

Since I was scrambling for something to show this week, I happened to glance around my sewing room and found a couple of treasures......Sorry I am late with the link...Life is rather full these days!!

This is a box of Dritz Tailors' Chalk. Look at the price....you'd never see a price tag like that retail today!!

Vintage Pinking Sheers. I love the box that houses these sheers....

But I adore the bakelite handles on the actual sheers more!! These are really a lovely pair and I never use them.....even though I guess I really should!! They are just pretty to look at!!

Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!!

  1. Hi Suzanne,
I love your vintage sewing stuff. I found my mothers sewing scissors this past week but your post just reminded me I never found her pinking shears. :( Yours are so wonderful, I adore bakelite.

    Happy VTT!

  3. Suzanne,
My mom still has her pinking shears in the box just like that, and you know she wouldn't let me borrow them. Guess she thought I wouldn't give them back.<;)

  7. Suzanne, Love the vintage sewing notions. The shears are great. Mine are vintage, I bought them new, but they do not have the neat bakelite handles. I have used the tailor's chalk for many years. Great price, LOL!
    Thanks for hosting, Ginger :)

  10. Hi Suzanne,

I wonder what kind of profit was made on that chalk if they could sell it for 10 cents! Ha! I looked all over Walmart the other day for pinking shears...and found none! I should try a vintage shop, I suppose! Hope you have a lovely day. I'm linking up for the first time in months!

  13. Some great finds there! It is funny to see how much those things were once selling for. I guess back then that was a lot of money and now it's like nothing =D

  20. Fabulous pinking shears! Those handles really are lovely. I remember my tailor grandfather had these enormous pinking shears-yours look easier to handle. :)

Sometimes someone says something really small, and it's like it fits into this empty space in your heart!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts here, they really mean a lot to me!
