Hello! Welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy your visit today. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Suzanne, better known as The Coloradolady. We live in Texas, but my heart belongs in Colorado. I love being in the mountains and enjoy all Colorado has to offer a nature lover. We have a cabin in the mountains and love spending time there. Hopefully, someday we can retire there to our mountain retreat.
I am a married to the love of my life.....well, most times he is the love of my life.....sometimes I am not so sure......just keepin' it real here!! We have been married for 23 years and we really do have a good life together. Things are not always easy, but then again, the important things in life usually are not. I am a "working mom" to two adult children. My son is the oldest and he works in the oil field industry. My daughter just graduated from the University of North Texas and a steady social life.
My three "babies" at home are my three dachshunds, Sophie, Dora and Bailey, the joys of my life. These little dogs keep me on my toes. They are always getting into something, especially Dora and they demand my complete attention at all times. They are devoted, lovable, and I can not imagine my life without these three sweet girls.
I have a fondness for vintage things. I collect vintage linens, tablecloths and handkerchiefs from the 40's and 50's. I have a passion for vintage platters and can hardly pass one up when I find them at estate sales. I also collect vintage Christmas items. I have a particular interest in vintage glass ornaments, vintage salt & pepper shakers and 50's and 60's Christmas paper items.
I also collect black bears and have a bedroom decorated in nothing but black bear things. I love to imagine I am in the heart of Colorado when I walk in that room surrounded by cute little black bear things.
I love estate sales and enjoy bargain shopping. I love cooking and hope to share some of my favorite recipes on this blog. I like to try new dishes, but I always like the old tried and true dishes as well. I love sweet tea, lemonade and sunshine, in no particular order of preference. I love to spend time in my garden. I enjoy photography, and love treasure hunting.
Welcome to my blog I hope you enjoy your visit and look forward to getting to know each of you. You never know what you may find here.....literally, from dogs to dishes and everything in between!!

We're Texans living in CO..how's that? Ambassadors to convince people here that if you put beans in chili, it becomes soup.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to meet you Coloradolady! You and I have a lot in common...The Husband & I have also been married 23 years, I have 4 adult children, I've replaced them with pups who make life worth living! I too long to live somewhere else, (a Southern girl who longs for snow) I love antiquing and cooking and making things...I've never thought about black bears but I just may give them a look-see!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog...everything about it!
Hi Coloradolady! This is my first time visit to your site. What a treat. I enjoyed 'snooping' around and learning a little about who you are. Your puppies are sweet!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to future visits! I'd love you to come by my place sometime too!
Hi Suzanne, I am always happy to meet someone living in Texas..I was born and reared in Texas, so I am 100 percent Texas lady. I live in Jewett, Texas...yes I know you have to get out the old map. It is half way between Houston and Dallas west of I45. You can get off at Centerville or Buffalo and go west. Are you any where close to me?
ReplyDeleteCome and visit me.
I also, am a Texan living in Colorado. My heart longs for the warmth of the homestate and yours longs for the cool of the mountains. Ironic, huh? Probably just a grass is always greener deal! Although I've always thought having the money to have TWO homes would be the best! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
Judy
Hi Coloradolady!! :) I'm so excited to find your blog! I found your link at Cassandra Van Curen's blog. I saw what looked like a dachshund on your picture and had to check it out! I'm from Buffalo, NY, but I looooove the long babies! And vintage! So what a perfect blog for me to follow! :) I look forward to reading about all of your adventures :) *Hugs*
ReplyDeleteWe too have a lot in common. I have been married for the same time, and we are planning on moving to Colorado in a few years. From Calif. So glad I found you!!
ReplyDeleteWarm wishes,
KAREN EILEEN
First I want to thank you for visiting my blog and welcome you as a new follower. Of course I just had to pop over for a quick visit.
ReplyDeleteYour fur kids are too cute! I have to ask how I can get that little button(?) thing that's on the right side of your page that says "We are not disposable, Please love us for our whole life." I would love to have it on my blog. 3 of our 4 kids are rescues but I like to say we didn't rescue them, they rescued us.
Your Humpty Dumpty find is one for the books. He is adorable!
Haven't checked out your recipes but I'll be doing that soon. New recipes are right up my alley.
See you soon, Your new follower - An Oklahoma Granny
I have enjoyed looking at your blog tonight and plan to read more about your Dachshunds soon. They are precious. It's nice to see other people who love their "babies" as much as I love mine. :)

Art of Mine
I just spent 1 whole week in Fort Collin with a high school friend. LOVED IT SO MUCH. I'm not sure about the winters there though. We traveled to the Rocky Mountain National Park and went up to alpine level. Just loved the smell in the mountains! Hate to see what the Mountain Beetles are doing to the pine trees though!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful site you have. I am also a Colo native living in Central Texas since 1991. My sister who lives near Washington DC
ReplyDeleteand I long to go home to Colo. We are writing a book now about 2 sisters who fulfill their dreams of going back home. We were going to call ourselves Colorado Girls but that is already taken by some young singers. We are older gals. You seem to have some of the same interests, I also quilt, do genealogy, photoraphy, garden, cook, garage-sale, and serve two poodles. Hubby is Texan 6 generation so guess I stay here for now. Again I will bokmork your site for future visits.
Hello! I'm not a native, but I live in Colorado -- and have for about 35 years (might as well call me a native!). It's so nice to "meet" you. Your babies are precious ... your blog is, too! Found you via the BlogHer promos!
ReplyDeleteWhere in Texas are you? I am in San Antonio. I love vintage and one of the lights in my life is my dachshund, Gabby!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne, I wanted to thank you for your nice note to me regarding the fabric I sent. I can't wait to see what you did with the fabric you received from everyone. Have a wonderful Christmas holiday season and a healthy New Year. Dar in MO
ReplyDeleteI would like to mail you the Sunset Strip jacket pattern. I thought I still had your snail mail from when I mailed charms for your Begging Quilt, but I have misplaced it. Please send your snail mail and the pattern will be on its way.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne,
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed visiting your blog, and I am certain I will become a frequent visitor.
My husband and I had very little money our first Christmas togeter, 1966. My mother-in-law collected roosters and one of her sisters gave us the pattern for popcorn/beans rooster.
I have been searching for that pattern for years. I have no idea what happened to the rooster that also hung in the kitchen for year.
Please contact me.
Thank you,
mmmldavis@aol.com
