Gifts of Love: There is nothing like the feeling you get when you open up a box or package, gaze at the contents and just know in your heart that it was purchased JUST for you. For me, nothing compares to that feeling. Pure Joy!
I want to show you one of my Christmas gifts from my daughter.
Let me explain. For as long as my daughter has been in this world....for a total of 22 years I have had a tackle box like this very one that I have stored my cosmetics in. My daughter does not remember anything other than this one tackle box. Over the years, the latch was broken, inside slots broken, and just plain worn out. I mentioned something about that one day not too long ago, and said I knew I would never find another like it.
Well, imagine my surprise when I opened up a box and it contained a new....well almost new tackle box to replace my old one. Look how pretty this one is! I was so surprised and pleased. Truly, a gift intended only for me!
Here is the gift from my son, who knew how bad I needed an external hard drive for my computer for storing all my pictures. Again, totally intended for me, that really warms my heart that my sweet son knew exactly what I needed and wanted....now I have to get him over to my house for lessons on using it! But if you recall this post then you know the lessons are not too far off.
Lastly, I received one other gift for Christmas that was picked out with just me in mind. The sentiment behind this gift is something I will always treasure in my heart. I am not going to show it here, but trust me, it was special and the person it was from knows how I feel about it. Thank you, again!
I was blessed this year with lots of really nice things, many of which I truly love. It's just that sometimes there will be one or two which stands out in your mind and you just know how much time, thought, and love were put into that gift.
That my friend is the true spirit of giving.
Goal number 1 for 2009: plan ahead, have a idea, take the time, and make sure I find gifts from now on that touch the hearts of people on my gift list for next Christmas. After all, that memory will last long after the gift is gone and that is pure joy.

ReplyDeleteI love the tackle box! I, too, love the gifts from the heart. My children are growing into thoughtful young women and this was certainly evident under our tree this year. I love the goal and may have to adopt it as my own. This year, I did not feel terribly thoughtful - but it has been stressful leading up to the holidays - things will be better next year and we will forget most of the stress of this one as time goes by. Happy New Year! ~Kelly

ReplyDeleteHello Colorado Lady, from a Colorado Guy living on the Oregon coast. Please forgive me for being so bold, but I am doing a bit of blog surfing to invite people to sign up for my annual giveaway. This isn't some sort of gimmick. I am celebrating two years of blogging and this is my way of doing it. I am giving away a free caricature drawn by me. I'd be honored if you came over and checked it out.
ReplyDeleteThose are special gifts - kids surprise us, don't they? We don't think they ever listen to us, but they do!!! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Of course, you can quilt - it just takes a little practice and can be so rewarding. Give it a try. Sally

ReplyDeleteThe Sunday photo is beautiful! We were just in Colorado for a bit, but it was so hard for us Floridians to get around on the snowy roads. We ended up in Utah.
