We Have Issues Around Here

I don't know if you have ever realized it from my blog post, but let me say this, we differently have issues at our house.....just sayin'

Sophie has decided she is keeper of the food bowl. The guard. The security monitor. The "hog" of the dog food. She wants some of it in the bowl, some of it on the floor. Worse, if she is not hungry, this is what she does to keep poor Dora and Bailey at paws length. It is almost as if she is saying if she is not hungry...well, no one is eating. And she only does this when she does not want to eat.

I have tried everything to break this "issue"........finally, this day I told her she should be ashamed of herself for acting selfish in such a way.......I mean after all, there is plenty for everyone!

....she just ducked her head in shame.....but did not move one inch.......issues I tell ya'......issues.

  2. Maybe having separate bowls for every dog would help.

  3. Ania....lol we do have separate bowls, they think they have to eat out of the same bowl. Issues...I tell ya'!

  4. She is definitely "Queen of the Dogs". Have you tried separating their food into individual bowls in different locations?

  5. haha....yes, I have three different bowls. I think they are all three afraid one is getting something better....they migrate to bowl to bowl TOGETHER.......it is so funny.

  6. There is no doubt you have issues when it comes to your "babies". It is all in how you train a dog when growing up as to how they turn out.

  7. LOL - they are quite the pack! I have separate bowls in separate rooms, but my dogs eat their food all at once. No food sitting around to guard, but the older/bigger one still checks the little dog's bowl every morning to see if she left anything behind.

  8. They do have their ways don't they!! Issues are right! She rules the food that is for sure!

  9. Great story! Aren't dogs hilarious? We used to feed three in the kitchen at the same time and they all worked their way around the room to the right, from bowl to bowl, convinced there was something better in the next one. Lane

  10. Sophie isn't taking to the new dog, is she? Hmm, you might need to hold her while the other two eat. Poor things.

  11. Oh, and food was ALWAYS an issue at our house. Lots of food theft during mealtime. The grass is always greener. LOL!

  12. Dogs always amaze me. When my older dog went blind, my younger one then became dominant dog and was such a bully! I would have to scold her, but when I'd fuss, she'd pout and go hide in her crate. I don't like bullying. LOL! They are both gone now, and I love seeing what other people's pets are up to these days. Doxies have so much personality and are just a hoot! I had Min Pins which were originally bred from Doxies.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  13. how about each bowl in a different room do they all have a favorite room??
It seems to me that poor Sophie has some insecure issues...poor poor Sophie

  14. Haha! I have two cats with two bowls and they always have their heads in the same bowl. Oh, and they like to spread the food around the bowls too so that's a very familiar sight.

  15. Send Sophie over to my cottage. Bentley will share. Camilla the yellow lab next door likes to come over to see Bentley and when she does, she always stops in the kitchen to drink Bentley's water and eat his food and he doesn't mind. So Sophie can eat over here while Dora and Bailey each get a chance on the dish! Until then Sophie, maybe we should read you a story about sharing!!

    Love,
    Susan and Bentley

  16. What a cute post. Aren't out 'little ones' amazing how they can take charge. I feed three dogs in three separate bowls and they are always looking at each other to make sure they all have the same thing and finish at the same time. Pretty funny. I always have to stand guard while they eat.

  17. So funny - what would we do without 'em, issues and all?

  18. We have 3 weiners too and we feed ours in 3 different bowls all at the same time. We had been feeding ours twice a day and our vet suggested we feed them once a day and not ever to free feed them. We started doing this and they gobbled so, he suggested wetting the kibble with warm water and it has helped. Our three have all had back issues, but now are well and trim. I'm glad you liked my roses. They are really pitiful looking now. We have had storms all this past week and yesterday a horrendous hail storm. I hope roses do well. I love those old roses too. Have a great week!

  19. I'm thinking you need to start blocking her from the bowl. But I know how that would go for Riley, so I'll just say... Good luck! ;)

  20. Sofie is being the ALPHA dog. Do separate bowls for each dog and tell Sofie "NO!" if she goes near the other bowl.
We have two corgis and we feed them in separate ROOMS, with the door closed. They can't even lick a plate together without getting nasty with each other.
It's a dog thing and they have issues just like people do.

  22. I know from experiance that many doxies will eat til they pop. I only have 2 now and one is definitely an alpha. They get 1/4 cup twice a day. I set their bowls down as far apart as I can reach. They have actually learned to stand on either side of me. They still check out each others bowls but 1/4 cup is gone before this happens. Don't leave the food down. The food you have down would feed my girls for days. Sophie looks like she would benefit from some tough love.

Sometimes someone says something really small, and it's like it fits into this empty space in your heart!

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts here, they really mean a lot to me!
